Driftwood Club – Malindi hotelss
On the shores of the Indian Ocean, at the edge of the ancient settlement of Malindi lies The Driftwood, nestled into the Kenyan coast, with a charm all of its own. As a small and privately owned hotels, we have particularly enjoyed developing a sense of warmth and familiarity that sees our guests returning time and again.
We like to keep things small and can accommodate just 70 guests in our cottages and villas, which are constructed in the traditional coastal style and brought up to date with air conditioning and other modern amenities. All the accommodation has been designed to maximise privacy, whilst being close to the open-air bar and dining area and within just a few feet of our pool, private beach and the blue waters of the Indian Ocean.
Our long serving and experienced team are on hand to offer some of the best food in Malindi and to arrange some of the many activities that are available from here. These include deep-sea fishing, scuba diving and snorkelling, windsurfing, kite-surfing and water ski-ing on Mida Creek and bird watching on the Sabaki Delta or in the Arabuko-Sokoke forest. For those who simply want to relax, we have 4 miles of white beach to walk, a small treatment room and plenty of space to find peace and quiet.
‘The lodge is full of charm and magic for those seeking to lose themselves in the moment’- Brennen Matthews, Destination Magazine

our food
As an owner managed hotels we take great pride in our food and strive to offer the very freshest of local produce. We change our menus regularly and take full advantage of the seasons and the bountiful produce available to us in this tropical coastal setting. We are very proud of our hard earned reputation as one of the best hotelss to eat in Malindi and the surrounding area.
We offer a bar menu and a more extensive a la carte menu to go with a well considered selection of wines. Though we change our menus frequently, we wouldn’t be popular with our locals if we removed some of our most popular dishes such as Tuna Sashimi, Thai Marinated Crab Claws or our Swahili Beef, and even the hardened meat eaters have been known to happily devour our creative vegetarian dishes.
The ocean that laps at our doors provides us with a very wide range of fresh seafood including Red Snapper, Prawns and Lobster with the Oysters coming from Kilifi just a few kilometres down the beach. Our catering team are well trained and experienced in providing food that reflects the climate, the setting and the rich Swahili culture in this stretch of coastline. It is this combination that gives us our fine reputation.
